ECU PERFORMANCE CHIP TUNING REMAPPING

Modifying an engine to include aftermarket or upgrade components, stock ECUs may or may not be able to provide the correct type of control for the application(s) in which the engine may be used. Typical modifications that may require an ECU upgrade can include:

  • Turbocharging or supercharging
  • Naturally aspirated engine
  • Fuel injection or spark plug upgrades
  • Exhaust system modifications
  • Transmission upgrades, and so on.

Changing or modifying an erasable programmable read only memory chip in an vehicle’s  electronic control unit (ECU). It helps to achieve superior performance, power, cleaner emissions, or better fuel efficiency. Engine manufacturers generally use a conservative electronic control unit maps, that allows infrequent servicing and poor-quality fuel. Another reason to change the ECU map is if there are engine, intake, or exhaust modifications to the car. These “bolt-on” modifications causing the air to fuel ratio to change. Without re-mapping, some of the performance gains from the modifications may not be realized.
